If you have a Kindle or use Kindle reader for whatever other device you've got (Blackberry, FruitPhone, whatever), you might want to know that I put Loose Canons up on DTP. It's only $0.99, and it's worth the read. But hell, I wrote it, so what do I know?

There's a Kindle for PC.

And purchased.

Have you posted this on Twitter yet? If not, why not?

Also, might give some serious thought to creating a cover. Nothing fancy, just something to set it apart.

Do you know the dimensions for the cover offhand? If you're not that interested in making a cover, I'd like to give it a shot.

I think it automatically rescales it. And I have no idea what to do for a cover. Oh, and the $0.35 that I got from it will, along with another quarter, buy me a can of Coke.

You're only getting $0.35? Sounds like you're getting screwed. But I'm comparing it to the iPhone app store (80-90% IIRC) and XBLIG (75-80% IIRC).

The FruitPhone app store also pays 35%.

That's normal for most media distribution sources (both traditional publishing and online), but not normal for software distribution.

I have a thought for the cover, sort of playing off the fact that it's a farce of religion, politics, and philosophy.

- Very simple canvas-looking background, shaded to look like an old book cover.
- "Loose Canons" in large, simple script
- "A Short Story Collection", or maybe "A Collection of Short Stories on Faith" in smaller script below that
- Some sort of fancy icon below that, and then your name in the first font.

If I have time, I'll play around, and if I come up with anything I'll email you.

Ta-frakkin'-da!

I don't know how it'll look when it compresses down. Certainly I don't think it'll be perfectly readable. But I think the look will be eye-catching enough.

Feedback welcome if you think I'm on the right track but not quite there.

Have gradually been adding more wear and tear. Might be too much. Might be addicted.

Added a bit of texturing on the leather and rounded out the corners so it reads more like a book.

Also, downloaded the book to my blackberry and began reading through the whole thing. I think I've read a few of the stories but never read all the way through it. At least not in order. Loved the first story, but the second always felt a bit slower to me.
